“The parent-child connection is the most powerful mental health intervention known to mankind.” – Bessel Van Der Kolk
In my work with parents and children, I define ‘connection’ as the experience of feeling met and attuned to by another person. Regular experiences of ‘connection’ can nurture the parent/child bond and lay vital foundations for future well-being. In my work (across all settings), the fostering of connection has had the most significant impact on a parent and child’s emotional wellbeing and the ease with which challenges are met with and managed.
This workshop will explore:
• The importance of connection and how we can nurture it
• The impact of connection on the developing brain
• Ways we can use connection to set clear limits and help children to manage their feelings
