Moving Strong – Gymnastic Based Strength, Movement & Mobility

In this workshop you will learn Kirsty’s unique approach to teaching gymnastics based movements to adults. These methods have been developed through years of working with adults with little or no prior gymnastics experience. The main principles are that it is safe and that it is fun.
Technique is important, but there are no fixed rules with movement. Everyone’s goals and needs are different. There is no linear path that is the same for each of us.
There are certain aspects of a movement that will make it more difficult or unsafe to progress – but there are other aspects that are simply style. By teaching you how to self assess you can develop the specific mobility and strength required, while having the freedom to move in a way that feels right for you.
A variety of skills will be covered including handstands, tumbling and basic acrobatics, foundation movements on rings and parallettes (depending on equipment available).
The following will be covered in detail:
· How to self assess and prepare you body for these movements
· How to progress using simple and safe movements to develop movement patterns before adding volume and difficulty
· How to practice in a way that will maximise your progress and minimise your risk of injury
This workshop is for beginner and intermediate participants, and also suitable for coaches wanting to enhance their understanding of gymnastics based movements and cueing skills.
