Hand Balancing 2 Day Workshop – Mikael Kristiansen
February 16 @ 11:00 am - February 17 @ 6:30 pm€350
Handbalancer and Circus Artist Mikael Kristiansen is coming back to London to teach his full weekend handbalancing workshop at Local Motion Studios!
On the 16th and 17th of February, we will host a two-day seminar consisting of mostly handbalancing and other ways to experience movement. This workshop will be open for all levels and cost is 300 euros per person until the 10th of January, and 350 euro afterwards.
The first half of the workshop consists of Mikael’s approach towards handbalancing technique. It offers a combination of traditional Russian handbalancing with alternative strategies of developing awareness and coordination while upside down. Many of the spotting techniques used are different from the ones most often seen in an attempt to expand the scaling of exercises. Development of alignment, principles of balance, press to handstand, the road towards 1 arm handstands and the relation between these, will be expanded upon.
The second half will be a sharing of ways of “thinking” and experiencing movement and principles for creating a vocabulary. Developing coordination and fluidity of the body parts and exploring ways of sensing and creating different qualities will be central themes. Contracting, expanding, releasing and throwing, we will play with all ranges of movement, from the smallest twitches of a finger to acrobatic movement inspired from both the circus and breakdance.
The workshop is open for all levels!
